Shooting Neopan 1600 in Japan

New podcast about my latest trip to Japan
2

In this first podcast for 2025, I explain my absence from the airwaves for the past 7 months! Trust me, I had a good excuse!

Cats outside the Yamato office in the shotengai.

I then recount stories from my latest trip to Japan in May / June.

Shotengai (covered shopping street) in Onomichi

This set of photos was taken in and around the shotengai (covered shopping arcade) in Onomichi.

This shop had bright yellow shutter, check out the video to see it in colour!

Soon I’ll publish other film photos from my trip. Digital images from my Ricoh GRIII will follow too, when I’ve finished the huge task of sorting them out in Lightroom.

I was pushing the limits of the film with this dark shot, but it worked well.

Onomichi is on my list for future trips, such a cool place!

It was just getting dark when I took this shot.

I’ve just realised when writing this that I probably have hundreds of other images I haven’t sifted through from other trips, I must dedicate some time to my archives.

Image of the fabulous restaurant I went to, one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan!

At the end of this podcast I ask if I should do another Matt Loves Cameras community film competition again? The first one I ever did was a the cheap pano comp. Let me know your thoughts in the poll below.

One of the highlights of my recent trip to Japan was meeting Bellamy Hunt, Japan Camera Hunter.

You can read about my thyroid condition in this post from earlier in the year.

Already dead

I started 2025 with a flurry of activity: YouTube videos, articles for Fstoppers, and dozens of new Substack subscribers. Things were looking good. Until they weren’t.

See you next time!

Cheers

Matt
