Why do I find it so much easier to take people photos on holiday than at home?

Is it the pressure of limited time in a place I might never visit again?

Is it because I am obviously a tourist and therefore pose little risk, where at home people would likely doubt my intentions?

Is it because the language barrier actually helps me rather than hinders me? I can smile and show my camera and mutter a “sorry” and walk away if they’re not keen to be photographed.

Perhaps these are all excuses and the lesson is I should be braver in my own country from now on.
