I don’t often shoot black and white film, but when I do, it leaves me wanting more.
I’m a colour shooter. I’m attracted to colour, I think in colour. The whole process of trying to imagine a scene in monochrome is somewhat alien to me.
So when the folks at Cinemot in Portugal sent me 6 rolls of film - 5 of them black and white - I was a little nervous. Would I do their film justice?
I brought out the big guns for this one. I shot Amália on my Contax T3 - one of the best point and shoot cameras ever made. But even when shooting the roll, I was doubting myself.
I was excited to see this old Datsun at a local garage again. I’ve shot it a few times on colour film. After I took the shots I remembered I had B&W film loaded and I wondered if it would look any good. I needn’t have worried - the T3 / Amália combination looks fantastic!
If you’re keen on getting your hands on some of this luscious film, check out Cinemot’s website. They sell a range of repackaged B&W and colour film at good prices. If you’re ever in Portugal, they also have a film lab.

If you’re keen to see more sample shots of this film, check out my latest YouTube video. I even give you a hint of what repackaged film this could be.
Reader poll
How often do you like seeing new Matt Loves Cameras posts? I have so many rolls of film and so many digital travel images up my sleeve, but I don’t want to spam you all with too many posts.
I will resume the colour Ricoh GR3 China photos soon, hopefully with a new video to go with it. Then I still have quite a few Japan travel photos from last November to get through.
Cheers
Matt
Hi. Maybe make your poll available to non subscribers for better results. (Or interestingly different results to this subscribers only poll?) Good work, keep it going. Love the Japan pics.
