Canberra might only be 90 minutes by air from Brisbane, but it’s almost another world. While we were still enjoying summer-like conditions in early May, temperatures in Australia’s capital were a lot cooler.
It wasn’t just the temperatures that were different - the spectacular colours of Autumn were on show in Canberra. I was awestruck by the greens, yellows, oranges and reds, silmultaneously feeling jealous that we don’t have this spectacle in sub-tropical Brisbane.
Both mornings I braved the chilly weather and went walking with my cameras. Being a work trip, I took the 2 smallest ones I own for both film and digital: the Ricoh R1s and the Ricoh GRiii Diary Edition. I’ve only just sent the film off to my lab, but I hope you enjoy these digital images.
I’m still getting used to all the settings and controls on the GRiii - there are features I haven’t used yet and features I don’t even understand.
I’m more selective of what I shoot now, so using the Ricoh GRiii as an everyday digital carry is helping me pursue photography without worrying about the availability of colour negative film.
