10 minutes south of Yamba is the charming surfing village of Angourie.
The road is lined with an eclectic mix of houses - beach shacks, 1970s brick houses, and more modern homes.
Eventually you’ll arrive at a small car park. Steps lead down to Angourie Point Beach.
Just past the rocks, surfers bob and down in the sea waiting to catch a wave.
Crossing over the sand dunes, you’ll find Angourie Back Beach. The bay has a long stretch of white sand and even more surfers.
My son and I played frisbee in the water while the girls chilled on the dunes. We saw lots of small fish, some crabs, and a sea cucumber. For early Autumn it was very pleasant - even the sea was quite warm.
The first and last photos are from Anougrie Point Beach. I can’t recall seeing so many interesting stones and shells on any other Australian beach.

As a person who always takes a shell or stone when visiting a beach, this looks like a place I never would want to leave!😃
